Instagram’s Algorithm Revealed 📱

You've probably spent more time than you'd like to admit trying to figure out the mysteries of Instagram's algorithm, right?

Why does Uncle Bob's terrible home cooking pics dominate your feed, while your favorite influencer's latest fashion trends are nowhere to be found?

Well, we've got some juicy insights to share about how Instagram's elusive content-ranking system works!

Instagram's CEO, Adam Mosseri, confirmed our worst fears—it's not one, not two, but FOUR algorithms running the show over there.

1/ Stories

It’s like a nosy neighbor, studying your every move. How often do you watch a certain user's Stories? Enjoy stalking...er, keeping up with certain accounts via Stories?

Slide into DMs often or pepper likes on someone's Story? Instagram's got its eyes on your interactions, and is using these insights to shape your experience.

2/ Feed

It's your home base, your comfort zone, the place where you catch up with Aunt Carol's obsession with cat memes and your friend's incessant gym selfies. Or are you the Gym Bro of the group?

It shows top content from your followed folks, but also throws in some wild cards based on your past engagement.

3/ Reels

This one’s a crystal ball, speculating which Reels you'll watch or engage with based on your viewing history and who the creator is. Again, it's all about your preferences and habits.

Liked, saved, or shared a Reel? Your digital thumbprint has been recorded, and it's steering the ship for your next set of Reel recommendations.

4/ Explore

Instagram's little treasure chest of new content you probably didn't know you needed. It's not magic; it's a collection of signals like likes, saves, shares, and even your interaction history with the poster.

So if you've been stalking food blogs lately, don't be surprised when you're bombarded with mouthwatering pictures of pasta.

But fear not! We're not just pawns in Instagram's game. Adam says we have some sway over what we see.

There's an “Interested” button that you can tap to give the algorithm a friendly nudge in the right direction.

AI is coming for the Browsers 🌐

Do you know one thing that has been long overdue for a makeup? It’s browsers!

Believe it or not, the most revolutionary feature that has come to our browsers recently is Tabs!

Yes, those same tabs - of which you have 2,354,382 open at any given moment.

As with literally every other thing on the planet, AI is gearing up to be the biggest thing in browsers since the handy dandy tabs were invented.

One of the bold players entering this new frontier is SigmaOS. They're touting themselves as the browser for those who dream in spreadsheets and thrive on checklists.

  • They have an AI assistant built-in the browser, Airis, that can answer questions within a webpage itself, understanding the context and giving you the correct answers.

  • It can transform an information-dense page to a simplified format at the click of a button.

  • Airis has a flair for creativity with its "write like a pirate" or "write like a cat" options.

We’re not kitten you; it's purrfect for those moments when you need a bit of humor in your life.

SigmaOS isn't the only kid on the AI block though.

  • Microsoft's Edge is rolling out a Bing sidebar that is powered by ChatGPT. It even has an Image Creator, powered by DALL-E.

  • Opera's serving up its own suite of rewriting and summarizing tools, including a sidebar dedicated to chatbots called ChatSonic.

It's an exciting time for browsers. The work-from-home era has redefined how we use our PCs, and let's face it, we wouldn’t mind a bit of AI excitement in the browsers as well!

Meta announces its Quest 3 VR headset, which will cost $499.99. It's lighter, more comfortable, backwards compatible, and has double the graphics performance of the Quest 2. 🎉👏🏼

All new Tesla Model 3s now qualify for the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit, meaning more savings for you! This even applies to non-performance variants, so it's a win for all. 🚘💰

YouTube rolls back its rules against election misinformation. It's now allowing some previously banned false claims. However, they're still blocking content that directly misleads voters. 👀💡
