The app, which is currently nameless is codenamed P92 or Barcelona.
Users will be able to sign in with their Instagram credentials, and all their followers, handle, bio, and verification will transfer over.
In this new app, you'll be able to make text posts up to 500 characters long with attached links, photos, and videos.
With Twitter's ongoing issues, many users are looking for a new platform for their tweet-like updates. Will Instagram's new app be the promised land they've been searching for, or just another desert mirage?

Meta has just pulled back the curtain on their latest act: a shiny new custom chip and a supercomputer, all in the name of AI.
Meta, has been a bit of a slowpoke when it comes to adopting AI-friendly hardware. But now, they're making up for lost time by building their own hardware capabilities.
The Swiss Army Chip: Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA), is part of a "family" of chips designed to accelerate AI training and inferencing workloads.
The Digital Hulk: They also unveiled its research-focused supercomputer, the Research SuperCluster (RSC). This beast is packed with 16,000 Nvidia A100 GPUs.
So, what does all this mean? Well, it's clear that Meta is betting big on AI.
They're investing in their own hardware, developing custom chips, and even building a supercomputer so that they don’t have to keep running behind the AI Chip monopoly - NVIDIA!
